Size Guide for Kaftans & Wedding Dresses

In our Marrakech atelier, every Selhyan piece is handmade (discover our story). Getting the right fit comes down to two simple things: your size (XS–S or M–L) and, for kaftans, your length (based on your height). This guide applies to all our kaftans, our ready-to-wear and our wedding dresses.

Step 1 — Your size: XS–S or M–L

Size is about width, so the piece is neither too fitted nor too loose. Find yours from your measurements in the charts below. Our ready-to-wear follows standard international sizes XS, S, M and L.

Tip: if you're unsure between two sizes, choose the larger one.

Step 2 — Your length: based on your height

Our kaftans come in two lengths, chosen by your height, for a perfect fall to the floor — neither too short nor pooling.

1.65 m – 1.75 m	Length 165–175

Tip: if you're exactly 1.65 m or in between, choose the longer length (165–175).

A kaftan is by nature a long, flowing piece. Choosing a length won't make it stop exactly at your height — each model has its own drape, designed to glide elegantly to the floor. Some dresses also offer this length choice; when they do, it appears directly on the product page.

A loose cut, adjusted by the belt

A kaftan is designed to be loose and flowing — it isn't meant to hug the body closely. It's the belt that defines the waist and closes the kaftan to your shape. We favor fabric belts, which look more elegant and drape better, and we also offer rigid belts. You can also order a separate belt to switch up the look. As our pieces are handmade, slight variations may occur.

How to take your measurements

Use a soft measuring tape and measure in front of a mirror, without pulling too tight, ideally in your underwear or close-fitting clothing.

• Bust: the widest part of the chest, keeping the tape level.
• Waist: the narrowest part, just above the navel, without holding in your stomach.
• Hips: the widest part, including the seat, with the tape lying flat.
• Height: measure standing, without shoes, from the top of your head to the floor — this is what determines your kaftan length.
